A nicely-lit, unprocessed couple shot. Technique and camera settings: The flash was bounced at 90 degrees, and the D40 was set in Vivid mode for great pictures. Ben Herrmann adds his favorable opinion of the SB-400 flash here. |

Excellent, vibrant colors in this Childrens Gasparilla Parade photo gallery by M Cox. The huge and versatile zoom range of the Nikkor 18-200 allowed the capture of photos at 18mm focal length (sample) all the way to 200mm (sample). M sent me a message saying that the only postprocessing done to the images was cropping and using the Auto Brightness tool in Nikon Capture. |

1/60 sec is way too slow for a sharp shot at 135mm focal length, but I'm very impressed with the low noise levels of the beautifully-blurred background in this ISO800 photo - full-size available. | Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6 G |

Simliz shares a fantastic series of mainly seagull photos. Click here to go to the Smugmug gallery where you can view the full-sized, unretouched images. I find the sharpness of the Nikkor 70-300 pretty good at 300mm, and wide-open f/5.6. | Nikkor 70-300mm AF-S VR |
